AI changes its answer every time. Here’s how we make sense of it.
Ask ChatGPT the same question twice and you’ll often get a different list of businesses. One screenshot doesn’t tell you much.
So Ansoar asks your customers’ questions every day and keeps every answer. Over a few weeks it shows you where you’re missing out, what might be behind it, what to fix first, and whether the fix did anything.

1. See where you’re missing out
When you sign up, Ansoar reads your website and works out the jobs you want more of, like a home battery install or a roof restoration after a storm (more examples by industry). For each one it writes the questions a customer would actually type, and sets them to the suburb, city or region your customers are in. You can change any of it, or leave it be.
Then it asks those questions once a day on the three AI platforms you pick, and records whether you were recommended, only mentioned in passing, or left out. Those are different problems with different fixes, so they’re counted separately.
Recommendation presence by customer decision, June 2026
The percentage is simply the share of answers that recommended you. It doesn’t tell you how much work each business wins, so treat it as a direction, not a market share figure.
The five platforms you can choose from
| Platform | What it is |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT | OpenAI’s assistant, including answers that search the web |
| Perplexity | An answer engine that shows its sources |
| Gemini | Google’s standalone assistant |
| Google AI Mode | The conversational AI search inside Google Search |
| Google AI Overviews | The AI summary shown above regular Google results |
They often name different businesses for the same question, so each gets its own results. You can swap platforms whenever you like and keep your history, but sticking with the same three for about a month gives the numbers something solid to compare against.
2. Work out why
Click into any job and you can read every answer behind the number. You’ll see who gets picked instead of you, including businesses you never thought of as competitors, and whether you’re losing everywhere or only on one platform.
"Is a home battery worth it in NSW, and who should install it?"
A battery can make sense if you already have solar and use most of your power in the evening. For installation in the Newcastle area, these installers come up often:
- Coastwatt Energy, known for clear rebate guidance and strong local reviews.
- Harbourline Solar, which publishes installed-system examples and warranty terms.
- Sunvale Home Power, a smaller installer with good feedback on aftercare.
Other options include Ridgeway Electrical. Get at least three quotes before deciding.
Sources cited
Ansoar also lists the websites AI quotes when it picks a competitor over you: review sites, directories, a rival’s rebate guide. They’re worth a look, though being listed on one is no guarantee. Where you do appear, it pulls out what AI tends to praise you for and what it’s unsure about.
3. Fix the right thing first
No 80-page audit. After a few days to a week of answers, Ansoar suggests a handful of jobs in order, each with a rough effort, how many of your searches it relates to, and why it made the list. Where something needs writing, you get a first draft with your prices and guarantees highlighted for you to fill in, because Ansoar doesn’t know them.
Action for home battery installation
Publish a battery rebate and installation page with real install evidence
- Explain battery rebate eligibility in plain language.
- Show the brands you install, warranty terms and typical install times.
- Add three recent local installs with photos and system sizes.
- Ask recent battery customers for a Google review.
Why this surfaced: Coastwatt Energy leads 7 of 9 tracked battery searches, and its rebate guide is the source cited most often when it is recommended. Brightline has no page covering rebates.
Two checks look at your own website. Crawlability makes sure the crawlers behind AI search and Google can reach and read your pages, with fixes your developer can act on. Page Readiness reads a page the way a buyer would for a particular job, and points out what they can’t find.
4. Check if it worked
When you make a change, log it. Ansoar keeps asking the same questions on the same platforms, then puts the weeks before and after side by side, along with what your main competitor did over the same period. Agencies use this to show clients what changed after their work.
What happened after this change
Four weeks afterBattery rebate page published, logged 11 Jul 2026
Home battery installation, period averages
Brightline went from 20% to 30% of answers. Coastwatt went from 45% to 48% over the same weeks.
The same 9 searches, measured the same way before and after. The shaded days after the change are left out while answers settle.
If your numbers rose but so did everyone else’s, that’s worth knowing. And because AI answers shift for reasons nobody outside the AI companies can see, Ansoar reports what changed after your work, not that your work caused it.
What you connect
- Your website
- So Crawlability and Page Readiness can check pages on your own domain.
- Google Analytics, optional
- To see visits that clearly came from AI platforms, and the leads and sales that followed. You configure how AI visits, leads and sales are tracked, using the events you already measure. Plenty of people who find you through AI won’t show up as AI traffic, so think of it as the minimum. Ansoar only reads reporting data.
- Your email
- For the Daily Brief, on the days you choose. If nothing changed, it doesn’t send.
What we won’t pretend to know
We can’t tell you exactly why an AI picked someone, and we won’t promise you a recommendation. Nobody outside those companies can.
We also won’t sell you fixes with nothing behind them. A blocked training crawler doesn’t make you invisible in AI search, and there’s no published evidence an llms.txt file helps: Google says Search ignores it, and Ahrefs found 97% of published files got no requests in a month.
Common questions
Which AI platforms does Ansoar measure?
You pick three of five: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. You can swap any time and keep your history. The more searches a job has, the sooner its numbers settle.
How quickly will I see results?
Your first measurements, including how often you are recommended and mentioned and who is recommended instead, appear within minutes of setup. Suggested actions need more answers to go on, so they usually start to appear within a few days to a week. Before and after comparisons are ready once there is enough evidence after a change you log.
Which searches do you track?
Ansoar builds an initial set of tracked searches across your customer decisions when you start, written the way real customers ask, then keeps measuring them so results stay comparable over time.
Can Ansoar prove that a change improved my AI visibility?
No, and be sceptical of anything that says it can. Ansoar shows observed movement before and after a logged change, measured the same way both times. It does not claim the change caused that movement.
Why does the result change between runs?
Because AI answers are not stable. Research by SparkToro and Gumshoe, covering 2,961 responses in late 2025, found less than a 1 in 100 chance that two identical runs return the same list of brands. That is why Ansoar measures repeatedly and keeps every answer rather than reporting a single check. More on why AI answers change.
Is this the same as SEO?
Related, but measured differently. Semrush’s analysis of 5,000 keywords found roughly 54% overlap between the domains Google AI Mode cites and the organic top ten. Ranking well and being cited often go together, but one does not guarantee the other.
Do I need to be technical to use it?
No. Findings are written in plain English, and the original answers are one click away. Most owners read the summary and open the answers when they want to check something.
